Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. The organization accepts hair donations that are at least 10 inches long and uses 6 to 10 donations to create each hairpiece for a child in need. Locks of Love holds annual hair donation drives where donors can get their hair cut for free and receive a t-shirt, with the next drive taking place on June 21, 2011 in Inverness, Florida.

3. Two ways to help: Donate your Hair 10 or more inches are the only thing accepted. Must be in a pony tail or braid. Hair must be dry and not wet. Donate Money or Volunteer All monetary donations are welcome. Volunteer at our hair drive. Be a registered salon participant location to house donations.

4. The Hair Donation Experience Where? Anyone can cut your hair How much? At least 10 inches of non layered hair has to be cut off at one time. Hair cannot be swept off the floor, it has to be neatly bundled. Hair that is bleached is not accepted.

5. Volunteer! Be a volunteer at our upcoming Hair Drive Registered Beauticians to cut hair, people to sign in guests, help serve snacks, and help make packages ready to be mailed. Create a fundraiser in your community.

Anyone who donates hair will receive a free t shirt as well as their haircut and styled for free There will be numerous door prize drawings available, so be sure to come early and get your ticket!

9. Frequently Asked Questions: Question: Does Locks of Love sell hair or give hair away? Answer: Hair that is either gray, short, or unusable will be sold to help offset the manufacturing cost. Locks of Love does not throw hair away unless it does not follow the guidelines. Question: Can I donate colored or permed hair? Answer: Yes, we will accept colored or permed hair.

10. FAQ’s Cont. Questions: Can I donate dreadlocks? Answer: No we cannot accept dreadlocks. Question: How many ponytails does it take to make one hairpiece? Answer: Six to ten ponytails will make one hairpiece. Question: Can I meet the child who receives my hair? Answer: We cannot link donors with recipients.
